Advantages of Using a Wood Burning Stove

Nothing quite has the advantages of a wood burning stove. The fuel is ecological and economical, they look attractive and most importantly of all, they are warm.

Wood is cheaper than a lot of fuels, over the past few years oil prices have generally increased ( excluding current prices.* Jan 2015), gas is becoming more and more expensive, and not to mention, electricity has always been a very expensive way to heat a home. You can even harvest your own wood, and as it is renewable, it is environmentally friendly.

An open fire has approximately 18% efficiency, whereas our wood burning stoves have over 75% efficiency. This is due to the fact that open fires lose a lot of their heat up the open chimney, and when it comes to stoves, they only have a small amount of chimney draught, and even this small draught can be closed off to prevent this loss. This means our stoves use 4 times less fuel to achieve the same heat output – saving you a lot of money in the long run.

There are a huge amount of advantages to buying a wood burning stove, and with Carron offering a number of stoves in different sizes and colours you are sure to find one to suit your home. So what are you waiting for?

Choosing The Right Carron Stove For You

As we are well into the chilly winter months, you may be making the decision to buy a stove to heat your home. With so much to offer however, the decision of which Carron stove to choose can be a tricky one.

Your first consideration should be the size. Calculating the heat output required for your room is essential to deciding which stove to purchase. You don’t want our largest 11kw Carron stove in a small room, and at the same time you wouldn’t want to choose our smallest 4.7kw stoves for a large room.

Luckily there are a number of online calculators you can use in order to work out which stove is the best fit for you, and once you have worked out which stove will best suit your home, you can start to think about colours
.

Our 7.3kw stove in Ash Grey

No house is the same, and for that reason our stoves come in a huge range of beautiful colours. In fact, our selection of stove colours is one of the widest in the UK. Our smaller Dante stoves are available in 10 enamel colours alongside the standard black, from bright Sage Green and China Blue, to stunning understated Ash Grey.

The same goes for our larger Carron stoves; our 7.3kw is available in 11 colours and the 11kw is available in 9. All of our stoves’ enamelled finishes are designed so they are easy to clean, and will maintain their looks for years to come.

Carron stoves are manufactured to the highest production standards and are built to last. All of our stoves are independently tested, come with CE marking and are DEFA approved, meaning they conform to the highest environmental standards.

You can be sure whichever stove you choose will be a stylish addition to your home, and all have over 75% efficiency, so you know you are making the right choice when purchasing a Carron stove.

Choosing a Stove in time for Autumn and Winter

The decision to own and operate a stove as a source of heat for your home is often an easy one. These days, there are no shortages of articles recommending the potential cost savings involved with using a stove as part of your heating system.

Carron cast iron stoves are multi-fuel, allowing the use of both wood and other solid fuels. Whilst wood is an excellent renewable fuel, this can be of added convenience as slow-burn fuels can mean a longer refueling time than wood. Our stoves are also approved for use in smoke exempt zones when burning wood or smokeless fuel*.

Calculating the heat output required for the room in which your stove will be installed is essential. Choosing a stove too small for your room may result in chilly evenings and an inefficient output; whereas a stove too large for the room could leave you too hot at the very least! There are many online calculators that will let you know the best stove size for your room.

Carron stoves range from the smaller 4.7kw and 5kw Dante stoves, through to the more modest 7.3kw stove and finally the impressive 11kw. We have a stove to suit most homes!

Finally, you need to choose the colour of your stove. With Carron, there are 11 beautiful enamel colours to choose from in addition to the standard matt black finish. Now your stove can sit in harmony with the rest of your decor!

Our full range:

Carron 4.7kw, shown in China Blue Enamel

Carron 5kw Dante, shown in Egg Plant Enamel

Carron 11kw, shown in Black Enamel

* Other fuels may be suitable for non smoke exempt areas - always check the manufacturer recommendations before burning any fuel. Manufacturers details also confirm the correct way to light and refuel your stove.
